Is my DA40 copy bad?

Hey guys how are you?
hope all is well.
well, having read raving reviews about the da40 lim i decided to go ahead and pull the trigger.
the deal was awesome - like new lens for 290$.
so i grabbed it.
went out to do some test shots and well i'm not sure i see all the hype about it being sharp.
i mean the contrast and all is there but sharpness wise my tammy 17-50 seems to produce sharper images at same focal length and aperture.
i'm going to attach a little archive of sample shots.

both my tammy and the da40 need -10 adjustment on my k-r though, while the da40 would seem to benefit from like -11 which unfortunately i can't do.
so please share your thoughts and comments.

thank you.

Can you post a JPEG, with IMG tags?
Maybe full frame sized to less than 1000 px width,
and then full size crops of areas
where you're concerned about sharpness.

FWIW, the sharpness of the Tamron 17-50 is very hard to beat.
The relative advantages of primes in its range
are compactness, color, and rendering.

1,3, and 5 look absolutely fine. Look at the mascara and the skin texture.
2 and 4 look slightly less sharp.

I didn't check the exifs - were they all the same aperture?
