Question: FA Ltds are still in production?
Yes they are, there has been a couple of "scares" in recent years, but as far as we know they are still being made.

It is not a complete set, like this. I'd always miss very wide. But these are my preferred ones.

FA31 and FA77.
You want want a wider angle? Put the FA31 on a film body
And telephotos? Bung 'em on a Q.
So two lenses and 3 bodies will give you the FF equivalent of 31, 46, 77, 115, 170 and 420. Not a bad kit

Yes, at least they haven't been listed as discontinued - lenm production is different than camera body production. they will do a large run to lower overall cost per unit and the next run depending on the lens may not be for 2 or more years (the big expensive lenses like the old 250-600 worked this way - it may have had only one run actually)
how well they predict demand is reflected in whether or not there is an extended stock out between scheduled productions

Of my current prime collection, I would stick with my DA 15 and my Tak 55/1.8 if I had to choose just 2. That would cover landscapes, car/motorcycle shows and street shooting and the fast 55 would do people, portraits, etc. These discussions always come up and I find limiting myself to just one or 2 lenses totally defeats the purpose of owning an SLR. This is especially true with prime lenses. There were years when I was forced to stick with a 1 or 2 lens kit because I couldn't afford any more than that. It's a miserable feeling to see the oppurtunity for a shot and not being able to get it because you don't have the lens. I left my camera on the shelf for many years and shot with a 35mm P&S with a zoom because I couldn't afford the lenses.

I agree 2 lenses does defeat the purpose (though I rarely carry more than 3 at any given time, but rotate through what i own. If I'm on vacation i will likely have 5 ranging from 14-200 mm at a minimum with me any given day and may well have packed 9 or 10 lenses and 2 bodies.

Why limit yourself?

But if I don't have a specific shoot in mind,
and have two bodies with me,
I'll usually mount one wide prime
and one (longer) normal/macro prime.

So if it's my turn to focus,
25/2.8 and 50/2 ZeeKs.

If it's the cameras' turn to focus,
DA 15/4 and 35/2.8 Limiteds.

If you mean two primes plus my zooms: DA70 & Kiron 105/2.8

If you mean with no zooms: Samyang 14 and Samyang 24 tilt/shift.

A 17mm to cover my wide angle end and a 40 or there abouts for the standard. You can always crop for longer range, but you can not crop backwards for wide angle.
