FA 50mm f2.8 Macro
DA 15mm f4 Ltd

I like 50mm on crop, want macro capability (with auto-everything), and I go hiking in the mountains. But I'd be sad I had nothing longer.

I often run light with just three, SMC Pentax-A 15mm F3.5, SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2, SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8.

Hmmm for this exercise just two................. it's gotta be the SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2 and SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8, reckon I could cover most things with these two.

its a tough call, and i think you need to somewhat suggest subject etc, because they make primes from 8mm (fisheye) to 600mm for a reason.

lets assume, for the sake of argument, that you are shooting mainly in the city (architecture / landscapes, and people shots) i would probably take my samyang 14/2.8 and either a 35/2 or 50/1.4

I think with a 2 lens limit 85 is too long, and for many cities, etc, you need much wider than 20mm, so my 14 would be the one to go with.

Note I have done a 3 prime trip with my zenitar 16mmFE, 28mF2.5 and 50/1.4 before.

If the limit to two primes didn't exclude zooms, the two lenses would be:

DA* 300/4
K 50/1.2

If limited to merely two primes, no zooms:

DA* 300/4
M 20/4

Of my current set: 28mm + 100mm macro. Preferred pair would be da21 and either 50 or 100 (both macro).

If it's lenses I don't have, it would be the DA300/4 and the DA15, or maybe the DA21. I like to shoot wildlife and outdoor photography. If it's what I have it's DFA 100 and DA 35/2.4.

FF or ASP-C?

I use the '43 more than the '31 & '77, so it would be a '43/K85 1.8 pairing...

or:

M50 1.7/'31

or

'43/Tamron 17 3.5

or

M35 2.0/K851.8

On a FF, the choices might be different.

wow! thank you for all the answer.

To answer questions about "why limit yourself only two prime..."?
well, first, this question is just for fun. I just want to know people two most favorite or two must have prime depend on their style of shooting. I understand that it depends on what kind of photography each one of you do. and that is the fun and somehow useful part for me when I want to buy a next prime.
last, many people already ask about limit to only a single prime or zoom, and it will be too easy to limit to three primes. or two a zooms and a prime. so i make it to only two prime. may be I better say two "fixed focal length".

I used to carry two zooms back in college, film's day. I only remember the two cover 28-300, the body was Pentax z-1p or something, but I don't remember what zoom it was. also I remember that I hardly change the lens or even carry both of them at one! now I am back to photography (as hobby) again. I am still stick with PENTAX, but getting old, my shoulder doesn't like anything too heavy! Thinking of carry only a single fix lens which is what I own, FA35. but again, not sure about that because I want a lens with macro capability too. I am thinking about 100 macro WR. I should have selected DA35 macro, and be done with it. but I like the look of FA35 more. it remind me of my college day.

FA77 for sure. If I'm going film, M 135mm 3.4. Digital, DA*55 1.4.

I don't do a lot of work requiring a wider angle than what I get with those lenses. That being said I do love my 28mm M 2.8 on film...but can never find a use for it on Digital. I also don't like 50mm on film... Odd?
