Is SMC Pentax DA 18-135mm Fully Functional with Pentax K10 Camer Body?

Will auto focus work ie smc Pentax-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR lense with K10 camera body. Camera body is about 4 years old. Do i have to upgrade firmware? IF so, how to I check current version and upgrade to newer version.

If WR stands for weather-resistant, what do other designations mean?

Lens is going to be for general use, mostly sports (track/basketball), traveling and family life. I am a basic user (i use automatic settings), is this the right lenses for me?

Much thanks.

Keith

PS: Any tips on auto focus or settings for indoor vs outdoor sports?

ED is a type of glass for lens elements (usually extra-low dispersion), IF for internal focus, DC is the internal motor (not SDM like the DA*). DA and AL are common tag-lines with Pentax lenses; DA is for digital (aps-c size sensor, compared to FA for full-frame compatibility).. as to AL you got me I see it all the time and breeze past it!

I'm pretty sure the SDM lenses need new firmware but haven't heard specifically about DC drives.. but any non-screw-drive lens probably needs the latest firmware.
