The kenko looks very much like the sigma I saw.

They look exactly the same.. even down to those 3 line indentations and the look of the release button.

Hmm, the kenko one looks a bit thicker to me. I wonder why one is 1.4 and the other 1.5?

If it is a little bit thickier maybe that accounts for the extra .1? If they just made the distance from the element to the sensor just a hair longer would that affect the magnification? I have no idea.. just throwing it out there

. Maybe its time to google to see if there are any answers to this hehehe

So I understand correctly - The Tamron AF 1.4 works with the SDM? It removes NO function from the lens?

Yes, everything works perfectly...It was and is a pleasant surprise...

Tamron 1.4x AF Teleconverter for Pentax AF: 33392070 Cord Camera

Thanks for looking -- It is the only place I could find it in stock.

I notice the description of the TC says full autofocus is obtained only with an aperture of 2.8 or larger, and yet jgredline says everything works perfectly with his 18-250 and also his 70-300 neither of which opens to f/2.8. Do I understand this correctly? Would I have full autofocus and autoexposure using this with, say, the Bigma? If so it would be a nice addition to my "toy chest". (The quality of the posted pictures is certainly impressive!)

It is true, the autofocus works fine with those two lenses...Tell you what. Tomorrow I will try the TC converter on my Bigma..

Just to add, I have owned this very Tamron TC for some time and it is a great investment.
Used it on many different lens and never had any problems.
I had a Kenko 2X TC but it continually searched for focus in anything but the very brightest of light and wide open.
Not this one. A really great buy IMHO!

Autofocus can work with slower the f/2.8 lenses but be prepared for some hunting in less then ideal light conditions. I use the 1.4 with the f/5.6 lens and it will autofocus in decent light.. but it is slower then without the TC. I wouldn't use a 2x TC with a f/5.6 lens unless you are prepared to autofocus
