Being able to use live mode to focus manual lenses is also a huge help sometimes (especially on a tripod), and the very newest models (K-30) have focus peaking so that makes it even easier. I have a K-5 with S-type focus screen and also a K10D, and the K10D is starting to annoy me with its lack of live view and stock focus screen when I use manual lenses...
