I use a LG Optimus Max 3D phone. The pictures and videos I'm taking of my kids with it are priceless to me.
If someone said I could only keep the output for the last month of one of the following three cameras, Sony RX100, K-30 or LG 3D, I'd keep the 3D without hesitation. Totally optically inferior, but provides a sense of "being there in the moment" that the others can't match.
Completely agree, if you are after 3d you can do real stereoscopic 3d quite easily nowadays, the LG Optimus Max 3D and its predecessor the Optimus 3D take excellent 3d photos and have great parallax barrier screens that trick that can show real 3d images.
The Fujifilm W3 Real 3D also does stereoscopic 3d and has the lenses set apart at the width of the human eye, also has a Parallax barrier screen. I bought the Fuji 3d cam for $99. It has two separate cameras that fire in unison and produce twin 10mp images. 3d TVs are commonplace nowadays, I saw a 51 inch Samsung 3d TV advertised for $575 a couple of days ago.
For the price of a Pentax FA Limited you could do stereoscopic 3D quite easily.
