Which pentax lens give the best (or often) 3D effect from your experience?

From experience it's much more to do with how you light your subject than the glass you use. But I guess lenses with good contrast will help.

Hm, no, there is the question of bokeh, focal length and sharpness as well.
I agree with Mareket, as in pretty much all things photographic - LIGHTING reigns surpreme.

However, some lenses are known for a 3D look a bit more than others. I've not used them myself but all the FA Limiteds have a reputation for that.
In my experience, the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, at close range, and f5.0 - took the most outrageously sharp photo I've ever seen, and looked quite 3D.

Also I once took one with the obscure K series 55mm f2.0, at about f4 - and I got just the right background blur to get a crazy 3D look. It's especially striking on an iPad (good screen/backlit).

So, my advice is, buy a good fast lens (f2.8 or a prime of faster) and get used to taking sharp photos and playing around with how much blur you get... You'll be on your way to knowing how to snap a 3D look.

It's mostly about light, subject isolation from background, and shallow DOF.

A couple of lenses that have a solid reputation for creating 3D-like images: FA 43mm and Sigma 30mm f/1.4

For those on a budget, the F 35-70 3.5-4.5 gives a wonderful 3D effect in it's macro range and can be found for under $50.

I heard that having microcontrast helps to define 3D because it separates the infocus areas from the OOF very well.

That said, I've seen some absolutely gorgeous shots that pop out from the FA*85 and the DA*55.

I think framing to show your subject in its context helps 3D effect.

I'll agree w/ lighting and subject isolation from background with shallow DOF. Here's with the DA 18-135 at 135mm, f8 on a K-30. It's strikingly 3D on my monitor.
