So it will not work with the K10D? That would be a great lens. I was looking at the Sigma 10-20 but this is appealing.

It looks like it is slightly faster...

Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC J

TAMRON SP AF10-24MM F/3.5-4.5 DI II LD ASPHERICAL (IF)

I guess I will hold out to see what this lens can do before I purchase a wide angle.

I just emailed Tamron about this lens so we will see if they will provide any further info...maybe it's still a big secret.

My biggest (and I guess only?) pet peeve of my Sigma 10-20mm is it's (lack of) speed at the long end. So the Tamron looks like a GREAT option, faster and longer!

it's not much faster...maybe 1/2 stop?
I emailed them to ask them about availability dates as well but no luck. I figure x-mas time which is unfortunate because I could use it on a few long weekend trips this year, so I have to resist the urge to get the Sigma 10-20...

This is what I got back from Tamron...

"Since this was only the announcement of the development of this lens, we do not have any delivery or pricing information."
