I don't know much, but the first AT-X version was introduced in 1982 at about $430 US list price. There probably was a SD version before. If you can find user reviews, make sure they are about the same version.

It is very unlikely they didn't change the optical formula and the coatings several times over the last 30 years. The more, as I know there exist(ed) Tokina SD, SZ-X, AT-X, and AT-X Pro versions of this lens. Just 2 years ago they introduced an AT-X Pro version (AF, Canon mount), which got fairly good reviews in German photo magazines.

You could also look at

(Change xx to tt).
Maybe you could contact the administrator of that site and ask where he got his information from.

I just bought it. I was looking for a review here as well, didn't find any. So I will post some shots as soon as I'll receive it. Cheers

I was going through the June 1982 edition of Life magazine when & I saw a full page ad for the lens you speak of. "Snapshot vs Zoomshot" is the header. Hope this helps!

Wow. 1982 Life magazine. Thanks. I've since picked up a couple of Tokinas...28-70/3.5-4.5 and a 75-300/4.5-5.6, both fully auto. Pretty happy with them. Paid $30.00 for 4 lens. These 2 were part of that purchase. Lots of good legacy lens out there for us Pentax shooters.
