Sigma 30mm/1.4 has better QC on Pentax than Canon?

Looks like there are lots of complaints on Canon version Sigma 30/1.4 but few of Pentax version. I happen to have them both. I sent back the Canon version twice already to Sigma for AF adjustment on 60D. Meanwhile the Pentax version is perfect on K-30, no AF adjustment needed. God I really hate the 60D body which has no AF adjustment function!

that K-30 looks so sexy , maybe it's the better AF of the K-30? Just guessing

Heh, even the k-r has AF adjustment. Even if it's global.

And the k-x too! Even if it's global. And in debug mode

A lot of people have had issues with the Sigma 30 1.4 here as well, but part of that was because the lens tends to be soft on the edges and people were using focus points on the edges as well.

Sigma still couldn't fix that lens on my 60D. They say it's working well, I say No. Ironically the 60D center focus point has problem with the 30/14 lens. If I use the nearest focus point (not the edge point), then 30/14 works well. WTH all my other lenses have no problem using the center focus point.

Super weird - but yeah, it's a nice lens, but tends to be a bit bad on the QC. Maybe more so in the Canon mount than Pentax mount, but that's sorta hard to judge lol

My first sigma 30 was out with quite a bit but it was no problem to get a new one and that one was almost perfect, we are talking about f1.4 here so little room for error.
Quite like the lens and the bokeh, only wished it was HSM, if they come with a HSM version i'll buy it for sure.

Same - I prefer a wider FL than 35, and I like the HSM on my Sigma 50 1.4

I think what you're observing is due to two factors:

1. More Pentax camera models come with AF fine adjustment. With that, you can easily go from "bad copy" to "great lens" as long as it's only a front- or back-focus issue.

2. Lots more Canon cameras out there means lots more people complaining about any particular topic.

I had the Olympus HSM version, which had poor autofocus compared to my Pentax one. I do feel like my Pentax one was made better but can't quantify it.

I've often wondered this exact same thing myself... Although, I've owned a Nikon version and it seemed to be right on par with my Pentax one.

My partner has a 60D that has the same problem with focusing. It seems that some of the 60D's have this type of problem. It seems as its with the body not the lens.
