FWIW my F35~70 is not as sharp or bright as my F70~210, though both are in excellent shape. They came as part of an SF1n kit that was almost unused.

I know that others have posted about making a hood for this lens. I tried one - the problem is that I'll easily run from 35 to 70 in a single session, and a hood that is good for one end, will either do little or be an obstruction at the other, unless it is ones of those flexible hoods you can adjust. I can certainly post some photos, but I didn't want to make a big deal of the issue. One of the problems I have with the kit lens is that I find the colours muted and to some extent I find the 35-70 the same, although at other times it seems a lot more vibrant. Maybe I'm not being fair to the lens, as one of the times I used it a lot was a very snowy day. Having stumbled on this older thread though, I thought I just raise may concerns and see what bounced back.

To be fair, my experiences with the 35-70 were a bit marred by the damage to the lens (the hazy stuff). I also have a Tokina 35-70 that is a bit lacking in the "pop" department, unlike my DA 21 F3.2. But perhaps that's not a fair comparison.

I bought the 35-70 Macro and 70-210 with my SFx back in 1989.

Last week I got the matching 35-105 Macro together with a stack of other goodies for $40. Now to do some shooting.

I've seen the 35-70 go for $15 on eVilBay.

The problem I now have is knowing which lenses to take along - I simply have too many (don't tell my wife).
