You are NOT alone. Many want to defend this as good business, but now that B&H has said what they've said defending it is harder than ever. It is literally insane IMHO for a marginal player to try to strong-arm the market in this way in order to get their product into mythical B&M stores. But then again I am a broken record. Doesn't hurt that I'm right, but still.

It's not only Pentax USA. Each distro has some nonsense they make us go through for anything, like in Germany, where they raised the prices on May 1st, the begin date of their big rebate on the K-5, hundreds of Euros when the rebate was only 50 on a body. I was pretty pissed going to a dealer on Sat, seeing them for 779 or something, then they raised them to 900 and all of them were doing this. Luckily I found one last dealer that was slow on the price increase and got mine for 669 with the rebate.

137 less BM stores

After 94 years, going-out-of-business sales have just begun at all 137 Ritz Camera, Wolf Camera, Inkley's, Proex, The Camera Shop and Camera World locations.

Pentax's pricing didn't help these folks. Another example that the smaller stores cannot win in today market place.

True, and if it is toll free in the US there is no need for Skype credits. Now the saving starts again.

The Ritz situation is interesting. I worked in the Camera Shop Inc corporate office when they were bought out by Ritz in '99. The CSI ownership walked away with tens of millions of dollars. Perfect timing for sure. Even then it was clear where film developing was headed.

I bought my K10D from a CSI store.

I called B & H today requesting pricing on two lenses I'm interested in.

DA 17-70mm - Web price 489.00. Price over the phone - Same as web price.
DA 18-135mm - Web price $526.95. Price over the phone - $450.00

I still don't know which one I want.

Promising, as I'm looking for an FA77 right now.

Maybe a DA14 or 15 to go with it.
