I'm sure some folks have come up with other variants for the definition of the acronym "MAP"...........

If you want to secure low prices on Pentax lenses in the US and don't live in NYC, call Adorama at 800-815-0664 / 646-758-8887 or B&H at 877-849-6359 / 212-502-6343 rather than ordering online. You'll be able to get lenses at pre-MAP prices, with the instant rebates in effect on top of that.

For example, the Pentax 16-50mm is $804.95 on the phone rather than $1421.95 online.

Apparently, the Pentax pricing restrictions are for online sales only. I've confirmed this personally with B&H, and they've also told me that they are working to stop this madness, as it's virtually halting online lens sales.
If we call can the forums still get credit for the sale?

I ordered a 31mm from Adorama after clicking through, but I don't know If you guys got credit for it.

I had a problem with ordering lens online in B&H with delivery to Moscow/Russia. Had some discussion via chat with support, they say that they do not know why it is like that and I should be able to order lens just by calling them. So, answering your question:

Call them (via Skype or any other tool) and order it I will most probably do it in few weeks after delivering my Management Project - as a gift for myself :P

Thinly veiled price fixing, don't know about US but in Australia that's illegal. You can only suggest MSRP.

But good work for helping the little man.

It's real. I just called B&H and I ordered the DA16-50 f2.8 with a filter and 3 day shipping for $847.09

Thats' close to 50% off.

Adam, you ROCK.

It will only be a matter of time (Days/Hours) before Pentax shuts that deal down, and down HARD.

That is quite the price for a 1st party 2.8 standard zoom.

Yep. B&H and Pentax have a unique relationship. It's not at the love/hate level, but there is certainly *something*. When it comes to Pentax, B&H (and Adorama) and some of the other stores in NYC have been loyal, and kept Pentax in a retail setting.

I think Pentax flexed their muscles recently over the MSRP of Pentax pricing.
B&H went along - kinda - and has toed the line for the most part - at least in internet sales.

However, as the end of 2012 is approaching, we still don't have Pentax in retail spaces as much as we would like, which leaves the folks in NYC in their position of power.

Pentax *needs* B&H and the other NYC stores more than they need Pentax.

Funny how business works.

Called and got a great deal on two DA* lenses!

I wanted the DA* 55mm adn the 50-135mm and had two bids on ebay for $725 and $485 and was the highest bidder until the last second. I've been trying to get these lenses but nobody in LA carries new pentax lenses even if they "claim" to be dealers... (they also claim to be "superstores" which is obviously a lie since they don't stock Pentax! lol) Anyway Craigslist and ebay prices were only about $100 cheaper than what I got the new lens from b& h by calling. I called Adorama too and the retail had gone up to $1525 (w rebate) for the 50-135 so I wonder if it's just a matter of time before deals like what I got will be gone !!?? Anyway big thanks to Adam, this forum, B&H, and Pentax! Look forward to posting my images here soon... Shooting a fashion show downtown LA this Friday!

Any pentax users in Los Angeles, or international fashion photographers, please feel free to contact me for networking, etc....!
