It's a Tamron lens on the inside Someone at the Tamron booth confirmed it with me, not to mention any names.

Could this suggest that Tamron might be moving towards more support for the K mount?

It's just a theory of mine, but I think Pentax Ricoh is looking to work closely with them so that they can have enough full-frame glass for when it's time.

That theory should start the rumors going. But it is a good theory with some basis. And hopefully bring some good glass to fill the holes. I would love something fast f2.8 in about the 400mm range.

We need those bridges built. If the K-mount and the entire enterprise is to go forward smoothly it can not be on the basis of Pentax glass alone. No matter what you think of them, no serious maker has only their lenses available.

In a way it's a kind of perfection... I bought my first Pentax digital *ist so I could continue to use my Tamron 35-300 adaptall macro, only to discover 35 isn't wide angle on APS-c.. live and learn. Tamron makes some great glass, but Pentax has much better lens tubes and construction. Hopefully if will be all Pentax parts apart from the glass. In any case, getting the Sigma 70-300 macro probably meant the Tamron wasn't going to see the camera much in any case.Auto-focus is such a wonderful thing.

Now how about they rebrand the Tamron 70-200 2.8?

And I'd love to see the 60mm f/2 macro on my list of options, though a DA70 is my more likely choice in that space.
Maybe once the ink is dry on the hypothetical FF deal, Tamron's supply for PK will open up.
