Current DA lenses fit for FF? or not?

This is an extract from the IR interview with John Carlson.
There is an interesting question about some of the current lenses being FF-ready.

"DE: Speaking of the lenses, this was another reader question: There are rumors that many of your APS-C lenses might actually have full frame circles but they’re not advertised as such. Can you shed some light on that?

JC: All the tests I’ve seen, if you put those lenses on a film body, you get vignetting. So they’re bigger than if it were just an APS-C without shake reduction, but that added image circle is just to accommodate the shake reduction, it doesn’t accommodate full-frame."

Most aren't FF-ready, with a few exceptions (i..e the DA 40).

Adam,

I now the list of the lenses that have been tested to work with FF...

... I was just trying to draw the attention here to the fact that test done with film or in general with camera without the shake reduction system might be not accurate as JC was saying...

You really can't rely on anything JC says as being accurate. In the same interview he asserted that there are currently only 3 FF lenses - the 3 FA Limited lenses. Really? What about the 2DFA Macro and the FA50/1.4 lenses still available new?

in that case, making a FF DSLR with SR will make all legacy K mount lenses incompatible and require a whole new range of lenses? that doesn't sound like a good move.

FWIW I believe Minolta FD A mount lenses work fine on Sony FF with their SR.

I have a hunch that Malcolm is now the only US employee who has any detailed knowledge of Ricoh's plans- why would anyone else be given more than a general sense of PRIC's marketing plans?

the only way to be sure is to test them on a leica M or other FF sensor equipped camera body, as far as I know the DA14mm f/2.8 ED and the DA15mm f/4 ED ASPH and DA21mm f/3.2 simply aren't up to the demands of a FF sensor. Though all the recent lenses with longer focal lengths than those two should be fine.

What is a Minolta FD lens? Minolta manual focus lenses were SR mount. There were SR, MC, MD and X-600 versions. Minolta abandoned the SR mount because it was unsuitable for auto focus. They came out with the A-mount system with the Maxxum. Sony calls it the α mount system.

You are correct, my mistake.

True, as far as that goes. However, he's factually wrong in terms of now, real time, as far as what Pentax has on the shelf and is selling themselves in the way of officially FF compatible. 3 FA Limiteds, 2DFA Macros, and 1FA50/1.4 makes 6 lenses and not just 3 as he said -unless they have already stopped the DFA & 50's production.

Or production of the 3 FA Limiteds,
as respected sources report after each Photokina!

The FA Limiteds and the D FAs are on the lens roadmap. The FA 50/1.4 isn't.

Well, then even if that is the actual list of what is in production JC was wrong as he said only the 3 FA Limiteds. Either way, he was wrong.....again.

Malcolm is the new executive VP- not the guy who was interviewed (John Carlson).
