DA40 vs F50 f1,7 at f2.8

Has anyone ever compared those two lenses at around f2,8?

I own the F50 f1,7, rarely use is wider than f2,5, due to the too narrow DOF. It suits me very well. However, I also own the DA21 and just love the colors and rendering. I wonder if I would like the DA40's rendering more, and I would not loose much in real life IF, only IF they compare well at around f2,8.

Thanks in advance!

When I compared my DA40 to my M50/1.7 (not sure if it's the same optically as the F50/1.7, but suspect it is), they were close enough that I doubt you get 3 randomly chosen people to agree one was clearly better. But any 300 people would easily agree the 40 is wider and the 50 longer. There is no possibile photographic situation I can imagine in which any IQ differences between these lenses would be more significant than the difference in focal length.

DA21 & DA40 have the same rendering as each other, and are both different from all the FA lenses I've used.

Thanks. I'll keep thinking about it. The difference in FL might be significant enough indeed.

Ironically, this is why I sold the DA 40 Ltd given I have a DA 35 Ltd.

The M through FA 50/1.7 are supposed to be the same optically as well as coatings.

I don't have a 50 1.7, but I have the DA 40 and FA 50 1.4. The FA 50 is sharper in the center at 2.8, the DA 40 is sharper in the corners. The DA 40 has a punchier more contrasty look, the FA 50 is more natural looking. I favour the 40mm for nature, the FA 50 for people.
