enlarging it more (cropping in with the Q) will simply expose it
This is what I have experienced. Where it is normally a slight color affecting the outline of an object, on the Q it becomes a purple halo around the thing.

Purple halo is different than Layla CA. Fringing is a different issue, but it too cannot be ignored

Lowell I am not up on the various types of lens aberrations so I tend to just lump them all together. I need to get more educated on this topic.

Was that your phone fixing a spelling error or is there really a Layla CA? Google is not helping, other than guitar videos and a great singer I just discovered called Layla Zoe

I have to go with the Zeiss 135 and/or the Voitlander 180 for IQ, lack of CA and weight. I'm always worried about front-loading with heavier lenses - the Q is well-built but I do worry a bit about the l'il gal's mount.

The adapter I have at the moment has its own tripod mount, so that helps. A longer heavier lens without it's own mount could be a problem, but at least the strain is on the adapter vs the Q.

Yes, Lowell, you could be quite right about the sweet spot effect. I don't know. I personally find the 200/2.5's CA quite obvious in many situations (typically hard edges like house corners, tree branches etc.) and the Apo Lanthar is simply free of any aberration worth mentioning. Nevertheless I love the K-monster more, for whatever reason... But reason dictates to prefer the Voigtlander.

Ben
I know what you mean Ben. There is something about the K 200/2.5 the just feels right. I can live with the CA issue, which bye-the-way is also found in many more expensive and modern lenses, because everything else is so damned good.
