1:1 Matched Multiplier

Will a 1:1 matched multiplier for say a Vivitar 105 macro lens work with any other macro lens like a Pentax 100 f4? I'm assuming it's just a closeup type filter.

Yes, they're just + diopter filters. Being "matched" simply means the magnification is such it will produce approximately 1:1 results with any lens of that focal length irrespective of the brand.

I think that the Vivitar plus lens is an achromat, that is, it is two cemented elements. This would give better quality. But the proper diopter close up lens of any make would work, I don't know whether there are achromatic plus lenses out there.
