DA40 Limited - how do you mount your filters?

I didn't realize it until today but apparently the DA40 LImited's instructions indicate that you can mount a filter to the inside of the special hood that comes with the lens. Inside the hood? Ok, I guess that would protect it more and it would make the diameter for the filter something like 30.5mm instead of 49mm.

Couldn't you mount a 49mm and them place the 40 Limited's hood directly onto that filter like you can with the 70 Limited's hood?

Which method do you use for your filters on the 40 Limited, and why?

Worse than that for me, as I have several 52mm filters. I use a step ring and 52mm cap to protect my da40. At least if I resell the caps will be like new!

I'd mount it either (1) inside the hood, or (2) without the hood.

I wouldn't mount the hood over the filter because it will probably vignette slightly. Probably.

I use a 30.5mm filter on the inside of the hood to keep the lens as compact as possible.

Have you been worried at all about vignetting with that arrangement.

After ruining a few images due to filter reflection I took the glass out of them and only use them so that I can use the old style push on caps of which I am very fond.

Why is the Pentax logo printed on the inside of the lens cap for the DA40 Limited?

No, and I haven't experience any problems with it. I use an expensive B+W uv filter, though, so maybe that helps with the filter reflection problem that Colbyt described.

I have never noticed this, in part because I have never used the lens cap! I put it away in the box when I opened the lens and put on a cheap ebay clip-on cap instead!

I think itīs because you can screw it from the inside of the hood. And that way the pentax logo is facing the outside.

What logo? I don't even know where the original lens cap of my DA40 is.
