Anybody have any good suggestions. I am tired of getting flare in my images.

Wow, this is pretty radical, especially for an SMC lens. Are you sure they're not light leaks?

kcobain1992: I think your right, it does look more like a light leak. I have it on about two images every roll. Good thing I have a LX coming this week to replace my ME Super
Thanks though, it's got to be a light leak.

If it is a light leak, be thankful that it must be the easiest (and cheapest) repair to a film SLR. A replacement LX might be the most expensive

I've definitely never seen anything like this out of my M 50 f1.4 or even my non-SMC Super Takumar, so I vote light leak too.

Which two? Same sequence or random?

I'm guessing light leak as well, but you should get a hood for your 50. I'm using a standard length (not wide or tele) 49mm metal hood, or a 3-way collapsible rubber hood - both work well for me.

I very happy with this one I got on ebay for $10:

New Metal Tele 49mm Screw-in Lens Hood + Cap | eBay

Hood is good quality, thick metal. I use it with my M50/1.4 on K5 and it fits perfect, no vignetting. For shooting film it's probably too long, but there's a shorter one called Standard which would probably fit.

There's a version without cap too, but I find the cap very handy since I can leave the hood on all the time and put the cap on that.

My experience with seller was very good, not ultra fast shipping but certainly fast enough considering the low shipping cost.

I can vouch for Heavystar on eBay (above link). He is my go-to man for hoods and quality pinch caps. His 49mm hoods will accept a 58mm pinch cap and that is how I use them.
