Vivitar 28-70mm Focus "clunks" at Infinity

Hello Forum!

I recently got this lens on ebay for my new (to me) K-x. After reading copious articles, threads and consulting the manual on how to use my new manual lens (thanks to all contributors!) I finally got it working

However..... when the zoom is set to 70mm the focus ring "clunks" at infinity. As soon as I back the zoom off a touch it operates smoothly through the whole range.

Any thoughts? I'm not afraid to take a peak inside the lens - just would like to know what to look for.
