Lens hood 31mmLTD

Can the lens hood on a 31mm LTD be removed or is it fixed?

A Dremel tool should do the job!

If you have one, a 4" grinder with a cutoff wheel would be faster. Be careful not to touch the front glass though.
Always be sensible and remember to put on safety glasses , you dont want to damage your vision.

.... or, if you're not so confiident doing that then post it to me and I'll part it off on the lathe for you which might be a neater job.
I'll even thoroughly test it out for a couple of years to make sure it works properly before I send it back

Hello ,

I remember an old post concerning this matter , and someone talk about a very good hood from the company Mennon, able to use in FA 31 ltd.

A 52mm filter fits inside the built in hood - I poked the glass out of a few old UV filters and now I can use my step up ring or a screw in hood, vignetting isn't an issue on crop bodies.

Ditto to Tonto's post. And you've made quite an investment in a fantastic lens; do you really want to severely reduce it's resale if you aren't happy with the chop-job?

In chopped form, it could be marketed for $1979.95 as "the very rare APS-C version of the lens" on one of those auction sites.
