What Am I Missing?

I'm covered from 15 all the way to 300mm. Do I need the '21 Ltd? It would be tied for third slowest lens('15@4.0 and '300@4.5)with the others ranging from 1.2-1.9.

what do you mean covered?

I have zooms from 10mm through 500mm with overlap at all focal lengths

I have M42 primes from 16mm FE through 300mm with not a lot of gaps (worst one is 16mm through 24mm)
I have K mouht MF lenses from 8mmFE through 400mm with only a gap from 14-24mm and between 135 and 300mm

I still look for new lenses

It looks like the lens list in your profile is out of date, according to your description here. Can you tell us what it is now?

You need a fisheye. Everyone needs a fisheye!

That way you can be "covered" from 10mm (or even 4.5mm) on out to 300mm. Of course, there's always those 500mm lenses... I'm just pulling your chain. Each lens is unique, even of the same focal length. Get 'em all!

You might like the FA*24/2. I'm enjoying the one I just got, although I haven't been doing anything too challenging with it yet, since I've been focused on sports photography lately with my 85mm+ lenses. But I'm taking it with me in the bag, and using it for landscape shots of the location. I like having the f/2 speed available. I also bring the DA15/4 and DA10-17/3.5-4.5 FE. The FA20/2.8, FA28/2.8, FA31, and sometimes FA43 stay home.

The DA21 color and rendering can be a bit odd, but it's certainly interesting and it may enchant you. It's also very small, but unlike the FA20 and FA*24 it's no good for FF.

I went for quite a while with a lineup much like yours, but no zoom in the 16/17-50/70mm range. You may seriously need to look at a DA*16-50 or Tamron 17-50/2.8 first. Shortly after I got the DA*16-50/2.8 I stopped buying lenses for a year and a half. It "filled my gaps" so I didn't feel I needed more primes in that range (even though I continued to use the primes much more). Also, between it and the DA*50-135 I had the whole 16-135mm range covered in case of bad weather.

I'm craving the DA 21mm, too, but thinking of the ltd. 20-35mm zoom om the roadmap.

I think you only need one, or at the most two lenses max.

DA21 is way different from your DA15.
Of the 2 I chose a DA15 initially and thought well I can just crop a bit and it will be the pretty much same. It's not. Doing this loses 1/2 the pixels.

I bought "twitch"'s 21 a few months ago and have used it a lot since. The FL instantly worked for me (i used to use 35mm on a film SLR so that could be it)
It's a great lens for groups of people or people within a scene. Sometimes the DA15 doesn't really work for this , either you have to be unflatteringly close or there is too much background.

If you want speed then there's always the FA*24 if you don't mind the extra size/weight and can find one.

@Pham,

Man, I'm trying to finish this hobby as I've spent over $6K on used equipment in 15 months and I haven't even started on the RRS rig I want yet.

How you get a 70-800 f/2.8 into a bag I'd like to know.

From 15mm to 31mm is a big gap, the biggest you have in percentage terms (which is what matters). I'd feel the lack here because I really like the normal to slightly wide field of view; YMMV. 21mm is pretty close to the middle of that gap.

Not sure if you mean RRS? If so, yep, another costly habit.

The 21 fits in the focal-length chart and the bag nicely.
