This comparison is selling me on the Pentax, but I need more light and possibly wider too. The 16-50mm f/2.8 gains me a bit more of the former but a lot more (5mm) of the latter. With the quality of zooms these days, is there anything I'm giving up going the zoom route?

did some more interior tests in my room, this time with identical exposures.

the sigma can barely keep up with the DA in center sharpness, borders, forget about it.

the DA blows the Sigma out of the water.

guess thats that.. LOL, atleast i have a good wide angle lens for a film camera now..

Hi Gooshin,

yeah, I recently looked the thread up when I saw your signature. A good piece of entertainment.

One can actually learn from those things ... in a good forum (like this one here) somehow people do treat each other with more respect and tolerance. And it even seems to carry over to members which, in other forums, fight to death

And that Sigma is going to have some baaaad CA, I can already see the "glow" from those white papers on your desk at 2.8.
Every lens renders differently. So, choice is good.

As others have said the Pentax does a much better job rendering the color. Also there is a bit of lens flare in the sigma. What strikes me more than anything is the quarter(?) in the right foreground. I all the sigma shots not only is it overexposed but it is way softer than the Pentax too. There is is quite a bit of discernable detail in the Pentax on that coin that is lacking in the sigma even if you discount the overexposure.
