Re-greasing a Takumar 50mm 1.4

Hey guys,

I have a slight wobble in my Tak 50mm and I am thinking of re-greasing the helicoid. I did a bunch of a research online though, as always

, and it seems like the community is split between two types of grease.

1) Lithium grease (it seems like people like to use NLGI#2)

2) Synthetic oil (PTFE based - something like this link)

Anyways, it seems like the lithium grease is more durable and handles extremes a bit better, but apparently is also thicker than the synthetic oil. My main concern is, I am trying to use something which is similar in handling to the original takumar oil. I really love how smooth the focusing of these older Takumar lens is and I want to replicate that.

A follow up question, what is the best way to remove the old grease and how much of the new grease would you normally apply?

Dude, no offence, but it seems to me that you've already read my topic, asking the exact same thing. What makes you think you'll get different opinions than the ones already posted?
Anyway, good luck regreasing it, and please share the results once you get the job done

Actually, I hadn't see that topic before. I was mostly googling and getting hits on other forums. I asked here because like I said, Im fixing a Pentax in particular. I'll def check out that link.
