It's a great price (too good since the MSRP on this lens is $1200.00) and the Sigma web site has not been updated to list PK mounts. I did a poll here 2 months ago to see if we could persuade Sigma to make this lens available to us and they haven't responded to my email with the poll attached, in over 2 weeks.

Now this was a steal. First one I've seen close under $1000.00 but the fool selling it had the listing end around 1:30 am New York time. I bet if the listing ended at 10PM he'd have gotten $1000+ as the last dozen or so of these have done. Not everyone knows how to snipe. Great for the winner, it's a beautiful lens.

I sent an e-mail question to the seller of the Pentax 70-200 APO DG Macro HSM lens, and here is the answer I received. Mind you, this is the new lens with the HSM motor, and not the previously available Sigma 70-200 with Pentax mount. Does anyone know anything about Super Digital City?

From what I can tell Sigma is behind the times with their website.
They still list the 135-400 available in a Pentax mount, and I don't think that they've actually produced them in almost a year

I guess the main thing that makes me wonder about the authenticity of this is that neither Adorama nor Amazon has this lens listed for sale yet although both have the Tamron 70-200 listed even though it's apparently going to be several weeks (months?) before it actually ships. I would think that if the lens were already in the Sigma Distributor's warehouse then big retailers such as Adorama and B&H would know about it the same as Super Digital City, and would already have them listed. The only thing I'm sure of is that I want to get my hands on one.

After dealing with a few sellers found on fleabay, for some of these big Sigma lenses (I was looking for the 100-300/f4), I think some know full well that they don't actually have the item to sell to you; they accept your PayPal payment but then tell you "Oh well it'll have to be drop-shipped from the manufacturer, it'll probably be a few weeks." Then if you're not happy with that finding, and cancel the order, some of them want to charge you a fee to refund your money through PayPal. I've seen some things on Am*zon too, where you may notice "expected arrival 2 to 4 months". So beware of some of these sellers who already have items for sale that have so far only been announced but are not yet known to be available.

I contacted Sigma customer service this a.m., and they said the 70-200 f2.8 for Pentax would not be available for purchase until "the springtime, probably March or April". In all liklihood that probably means July at the earliest. This obviously means that my two hits were scams.
