Next 2 lenses

What F and B focus issues

99% of these are likely down to the large focus points and field curvature at the 17mm setting. I thought I had them too when I first had the 17-50 on the K5. A bit of knowledge goes a long way. The tamron 17-50 is just super sharp. The DA 70 is an outstanding lens too. it is one of the few lenses that has no real problems anywhere. low CAs, sharp to the edges even wide open. It is why it gets the thumbs up on photozone.

Great thank you! I use center focusing anyways so looks like used is the way to go! I think I'll get the 17-50 and the 70 prime then. The 28-75 + DA70 would provide overlap as well. Thanks for the help everyone!

I have the Tamron 17-50 and FA 50/1.4. I don't find the 50 redundant even though the 17-50 also covers that focal length. The 17-50 is sharper toward its wide end, and in the 35-50mm range I usually stop it down to f/3.5 to get it to my liking. The FA 50/1.4 on the other hand, I'll shoot at f/2.2 all day long. Much better subject isolation and plenty of sharpness.

That said, the DA 70 Limited is a heck of a lens so nothing wrong with wanting to go that route. The extra reach should probably be helpful for things like lectures or concerts.

Also, my copy of the Tamron 17-50 did require a little AF fine adjustment. But, it's easy enough to test for, and the K-r's global AF fine adjustment works well enough. I just keep a list of correction factors for each of my lenses and change the setting when I change lenses.

Great thanks! I've never used the AF adjustment on the K-r. I forgot about it honestly... I may need to play with it a tad for my 18-55.

If you want a nice portrait lens to complement the 17-50/2.8, you should check out rokinon 85 1.4. this will also save you the trouble of overlapping focal lengths.

I'm trying to stay away from MF lenses until I can get a new focusing screen for my K-r. Been having issues seeing if my images are properly focused or not when using my Super-Tak.

I have an FA50-1.4... TBH it rarely gets a look in over the FA35... A 70/77mm would get more use...

I have Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and I found that the tamron has blurry on the top left corner and edges with aperture bigger than f4. So it can be a problem for somebody. For 50mm, I think pentax-A 50mm f1.7 is the best value followed by the pentax-M 50mm f2 for exposure point of view. For 50mm AF lens, the F/FA 50mm 1.7 is unrealistic high. I'd choose DA 50mm 1.8 over it. Anyway, better to stick with pentax brand lenses cause the characteristic of green will be the same for pentax brand lenses. That's one of the important reason for many people to use pentax lenses.

I'm a cheap hunter anyway
