Smallest wide-ish (more like normal on crop frame), check out vivitar 28mm f2.8 (i think the close focus version is better). You could find a K mount on ebay for around $30. Usually going wider will set you back considerably more than $100.

The K 2.8/105 is much smaller than the 2.5/135 and a great lens for around 100US
The same goes for the M 2.8/120 but it is hard to find and more dear.
The Super-takumar or S-M-C 1.4/50 are great and very small and quite cheap.
And the smallest 50 that I have, the Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50/2.8 T in the aluminum, 12 bladed, preset `54 version is also great. I got mine sitting on a Praktica F.X 3 for 50US (both included) on ebay. The later versions are reputed to be of a less good, much larger make and quality (?never tried one).

Regards

I bought a M42 Pentax 55/2 Super Takumar off ebay for like $10. It's incredibly sharp with great colour - frankly it's one of the best ever Pentax lenses. It's actually the same lens as the 55/1.8 but always sells cheaper. Nobody should be without one.

You need RioRico to drop into this thread and give you his minimalist list of lenses. He was working on an ultra light weight prime kit of MF lenses

OK guys thaks (not including the people who didn't read the thread and suggested a 28mm when I already have a 28mm f2.0? - or the people who suggested DA and FA Limiteds and the like - I suppose they have some they'd like to sell me for $140 then?)

Anyway, thank you.

I'd vote for M100/2.8 as someone else mentioned. Small and good IQ plus good build quality. If you can live without auto aperture that is... I'd really like the A version just to get auto flash exposure, but for the price you can't really complain

But... it's not the smallest 28mm!

Promaster "Plastic Fantastic" 100mm f3.5 macro. I paid $100 for mine, but they usually go for a bit more than that. ($150ish). For a 100mm, it's not very long. It's extremely light and the image quality is amazing. Macro or telephoto work is a breeze, and it's honestly one of my favorite walk-around lenses. I'll often take this and a 50mm f1.7 and nothing else.

Charles.

Oh hey, I forgot to take pics of that Albinar 135/2.8. It's actually a bit bigger than the Pentax F 135/2.8 (which I just sold) but still reasonably compact. Pretty great results for a $15 lens!
