Meter a M-50/1.7?

I have just acquired a M-50 f1.7 with my 17-70, 35, and K5iis, I'm not sure how to meter it or what stop down metering is... I have found that when you do DOF preview it gives you a + or - exposure reading and seems to be reliable... is this what you mean by stop down metering?
On a related topic, people had been saying that the K5ii/s had no focus peaking but when I look through the vf and I'm in focus the led blinks and it seems to bea ccurate?

You can do it with the DOF preview, but it is easier to just hit the green button and it will give you the shutter speed, then you can adjust up or down from there.

Focus peaking is a live view feature of the K-01, K-30 and the Q, you're just seeing the focus confirmation in the optical viewfinder, which all Pentax bodies have. Focus peaking will highlight in focus areas on the LCD screen.
