DA 50-200mm rough focus problems

The focus on my DA 50-200 feels a little rough, as though something is grinding a little inside. It is not very obvious, but when compared to my kit 18-55, the focus is definitely not as smooth.

This is the second lens I had shipped from CC. The first one had the same problem; however, the packaging looked like it was kicked from the warehouse all the way to my door. So I returned the first one, but the second one seems a little rough too.

It seems to be working fine for now.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks.

I will agree that CC does NOT do a great job packaging these lenses. I bought a DA 50-200 towards the end of January when it went on sale for $160, but was NOT at all impressed when I heard the lens rattling around in the shipping box when I got it. Luckily it was o.k....i.e. no issues with focusing, loose elements, rattles, etc... (Thank goodness for the suspension packaging Pentax uses inside their boxes!)

Did CC charge you a 15% restocking fee on the first lens? There was a sticker on my lens box that stated that there would be a 15% restocking for return if opened...or do they waive the fee if it is damaged in shipping. (I know Sears charges a restocking fee on ALL opened returned electronics, even if defective.)

They didn't charge me anything because I came in to exchange. The CSR said they don't have those in the store and asked if I wanted to return.
She paid no attention to the sticker and didn't even open the box.

Mine did that, too, when I got it back in April. But it's long since smoothed out. No longer noticeable.

Hah. Work it into submission, eh?
Nice to know that option is available I really don't want to do this the third time.
