It does? mine doesn't. Sounds like typical 3rd party QC. Just be glad it is just zoom creep, and not optical IQ that varies. I guess I've been lucky. All of the Sigma and Tamron lenses I own are really good copies.

To the OP, if the creep bothers you, bring it back to the shop you bought it from and exchange it. Bring your body, and try out the new lens before accepting it. I suspect you will find some won't creep. some will, and of those some will be worse than others.

Lost lens hood

I found the lens hood comes off very easily. Mine fell off while snowshoeing and I didn't notice until it was too late to go back. If I can get one, it will be $64.00. I had some issues with getting it to stay on before the trip.

Did you lock in the lens hood properly? You need to twist until it clicks. Mine is very secure and won't come off easily.

Mine does not come off easily either... in fact I am embarrased to admit how long it took me to figure out how to get it off the lens the first time

I think you should compare apples with apples.
A lens of the size and weigth like this one and with a 18 to 250 reach for $400??? What do you expect? Miracles?
I believe the engineers at Tamron performed a miracle designing this beauty.

As for zoom creep. Be glad not to have bought the Nikon 18-200mm... it also suffers from zoom creep, at a much higher cost there is no lock, not even at 18mm

About the vignetting, nothing Lightroom cannot handle.

i am taking the leap myself--i just ordered the pentax variant of this lens for my trip to sao paulo, for a number of reasons

1-loaned my 50-200 to a friend, and wanted something longer than 135mm
2-given all my gear that i have and want to bring, and the odds that i wont be doing portrait work, i'd rather leave the 50-135 at home, and might as well do the same for the 16-45

i figured a single lens for walking around, at least for most shots, would be ideal. my hosts have advised to make myself less obvious and less of a target--he himself was kidnapped/mugged recently, so that plays into things a bit too. smaller bag, less gear.....

at the end of the trip, i should know what i think of this lens. figure ill either return it, or have 2 others up for sale.
