New to me: sigma hsm incompatible with SuperA

I was at Paris expo last weekend. I tried a couple Sigma lenses on my SuperA: no Af of course but Tv/P works.
So the lenses might still be usable, I wanted to be sure.
Result is: usual lenses work fine, HSM lenses will NOT mechanicaly fit; not at all !

A pity.... maybe not a deal breaker, but annoying.

This is the first time I'm hearing this, as there's no reason HSM lenses shouldn't mechanically fit that I can think of. But then again, I don't think very many people put modern lenses on film cameras...

Makes sense, the super A never was an AF-type body and modern HSM Sigma lenses do not have aperture rings. If it was not fitting mechanically, then you might have used a Sigma-mount lens, which looks similar to the K-mount but is not compatible

It was probably the wrong mount because i tried the 70-200/2.8 few mont ago on superA and i had no problem at all. I don't have any problem to mount any KAF3 lens (btw i use extensively the DA*55.

Strange, I tried a couple of them.
The 70mm macro which is no HSM fitted fine though.

That's exactly why I'm posting about it. I'd like to be proven wrong.
I'd hate to buy the Sigma 35/1.4 for my DSLRs and the Samyang for my Analog photography

In this case, Samyang would get my money (even though no AF).
I really really hope they messed up with the mounts.

As for the 70-200/2.8 it did not fit

Even without aperture rings, P and TV are functional with SuperA, ProgramA, all MZ/ZX bodies. With Z bodies, every modes should be vailable but Z10.
AF loss isn't the end of the world. Bummer

Hope they switched both PK/Sigma mounts

That was my first thought.

Huh? The ONLY modern lens in my bag that does not get mounted to my K-mount film cameras is my DA 18-55 kit and then only because it vignettes so severely. Backwards compatibility to my film bodies is a big selling point to me.

I fitted my sigma HSM 8-16 on a MX and on my program-A
They mechanical fit, on the program-A the lens touches the plastic front part of the prisma housing.
The sigma 8-16 does not propperly support the aperture simulator anymore, probably the same with other modern sigma lenses.
There is a hole where the camera part fits in, but the reported aperture is no longer corresponding to the smallest aperture as still is the case on my pentax DA lenses.

Be careful, the SuperA handle only half stops value.
for example the DA 35/2.4 is shown as a f2,5 on the super A.

If the 8-16 have variable aperture, combined that with what i said and you probably can't use it at full aperture i guess.
