Lightweight wide-end zoom?

Apart from the kit lenses, do you know of any zoom for Pentax that includes 17-18mm and weighs less than 330grams (~3/4 lb)? Thanks.

The FA 20-35 f/4 is an excellent lightweight substitution for the kit lens. Higher image quality, though a shorter zoom range. It weighs 225g. I have one, and highly recommend it.

Pentax Zoom Lenses with Short Focal Lengths

If you look here, then there is no Pentax short zoom that satisfies your weight requirement. The only one that comes close is the DA 16-45/4 at 365 grams, which might have too much coverage judging by what you want.

There is the FAJ 18-35 if you can find it. Personally I prefer the 20-35. For me having a constant aperture is one less thing to worry about when shooting. It'll also give you better quality than the kit lens, but you loose some of the shorter and longer lengths.

the FAJ 18-35 came as a kit lens originally with *ist and *istD.

It is a full frame lens and performs well.

It was not wide enough for my liking, for a DSLR, but if I wanted wide, i put it on my PZ-1.

Note it can only work on cameras that control/read the apature electriclaly from the body, as there is no apature coupling on the body for older cameras and no apature ring.

Also it is only auto focus.
