I got the da35 macro first, then da15, then da70. Finally the da21. I m still thinking if I should get the da40. The focal range is so close to the da35.....

Purchased the DA15, DA35 Ltd & DA70 at the same time as my K5. I find them all to be very good lenses. The DA15 needs no plug, even FA users claim it. The 35 Ltd Macro is quite a versatile normal with added close focus, and the 70 is a great mid tele-photo and fantastic portrait lens. I seriously think it will become a portrait lens legend one day. I would like to buy the 21 eventually. Didn't pick them based on if they will work on FF or not, they were a good price, performance and features ratio. In my lifetime I have invested in and owned camera systems, think Minolta, that no longer exist and had to replace everything. Even if Pentax releases a FF, they would still have a more reasonable and evolved crop sensor line also.

I picked up a 21 Ltd while my first DA*16-50 was out for warranty repair. However once I got the zoom back, the 21 just didn't seem that special, and I eventually sold it. So it was my first DA Limited, but not my favorite- that would be the DA 15 Ltd.! (Although my most-prized lens of all is an FA Limited, the 43/1.9 )

DA15 for me ... Still waiting for it to make the long trip from NY to Melbourne (Black Friday splurge).

This is not just my first DA Ltd, I realised today that it's also the first time I have bought any lens brand new.

My first was the 35 ltd macro but I do a lot of macro and close focus stuff. I have had every DA LTD at 1 point or another and currently have the 15, 21, and 35. If I had to do the order over, I would still get the 35 first and the 15 second. The 15 didn't exist when I got the 21. The 40 is a good lens but was always competing for time with my 35 and F 28. If I still had the 40, it would reside on my K-01 (to be delivered today). The 70 is a nice pancake in the focal length, but I have the FA 77.

On the 70 vs. 77 issue - did you choose because of the FF plus for the 77 or on the basis of IQ with the APS-C? Or both/other reasons?

One reason is I like it better overall. IQ wise I found them both very good but different 'style' or rendering for lack of better words. However, the 77 is faster and also has the aperture ring. I have 1 auto focus film kit consisting of the F28/2.8, FA 50/1.4 and FA 77 Ltd so that was also a reason. I can also use it on my K2 film bodies as a manual focus lens since I don't have anything in the 85mm focal length. It is better to manual focus than the 70, but the 70 isn't bad. There are people that have both but I couldn't justify it. However, for a pancake setup for the K-01, I have to say the DA 70 Ltd would have merit because it is amazingly compact for such a focal length.

DA 70/2.4 was my first limited. Great little portrait lens. If I add another Limited it will probably be the DA 15/4. I understand it is a fine lens but a bit of an overlap as I already have the DA* 16~50/2.8.

Thanks. I like the DA70 but I keep seeing comments on the 77, plus as you point out it is faster and does have an aperture ring.

Yes, it sells for nearly double what I got my 70 for.

My first was the DA40 because I had already hinted about the DA15 for Christmas or my birthday. The hint wasn't strong enough so I bought the 15 a few months later.

Overall I love the DA15 but I'm a little mixed regarding the DA40. It's a Pentax lens so naturally it takes great photos but I usually prefer to use my A50f1.7. I also love my DA ltd wannabe (DFA100WR). I doubt I will get another DA ltd and it's not really the FF thing but rather a preference to other lenses. Lenses that I'm most interested in currently are the M20 (similar to the DA21 but 30-50% of the price), FA43 (replace the DA40), FA77, M85 and the M/A/DA* 300. It's unlikely that I'll buy any of these lenses in the next year or probably ever though. All money is getting channeled towards travel and bike equipment this year instead of camera equipment.
