Not in this case, the silver is a true limited edition so it has collectors value making the lens more sought and higher priced on the secondhand market in the future most likely.

Ok, but I've never bought a lens as an investment. They are only tools to me.

It is still good to have a tool that holds its value. Its bad when a $500 tool becomes a $100 tool when you walk out the door of the hardware store.
