Any info on the forthcoming 130-370mm zoom?

Hello all,
Just curious...anyone have any info n the 130-370mm zoom coming next year? My biggest question is: is Pentax giving us a big , fast, beautiful, expensive piece of glass? Or will this be a less expensive, slower zoom?
Thanks very much!

There's a telezoom on the roadmap with approximately that range.

Yeah...other than that, it doesn't give much info, though...I was interested to see if there was info out there that I'd missed.

If the accuracy of the lens road map and the color is anything to go by for what became the DA18-270, this could be anything from 100-400. My guess would be to 120/135-400 to follow on from the 18-135. So useful slowish/cheaper lens would be my bet.

I expect consumer grade, smaller aperture, since it's labelled as a DA lens. I'm guessing 135-400mm f4-5.6.

I would guess 135-400 f4.5-6.7.

Upon looking at the list, this seems the most probable. I'm more curious about the DA* superzoom listed...

Still wish they'd make a limited zoom, though.(IE: All Metal Build, Minimal Optical Defects.)

Agreed, though I have no idea how the heck I'd pay for it!

Lots of people were lusting after the DA 560mm 5.6, that is until they saw the price and pulled their horns in.

B & H Photo shows a new Pentax-DA 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 ED SDM Lens at $799.95, pre-order.

Let's wait for the test reviews and see how it performs.

It performs exactly like the Tamron 18-270mm for Sony, because it's the same lens.

Tamron 18-270/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Review - photo.net

and at this moment with a $100 rebate at B & H Photo, it's only $ 549.

Tamron doesn't offer this lense with a Pentax mount.

I found 3 reviews, Photoblog, DP Review, Photozone.

Anyone know if Pentax will add their own 'special sauce' to this lense or will it just roll off the Tamron assembly line with a Pentax mount?

At Photokina someone told me, off the record, that it's literally the same lens.

Isn't there one on the roadmap, or am I thinking of the DA*?

As for the tele zoom, I think that looking at what Sigma has to offer would be a good indication of what would be realistic for Pentax to make. 120-400, 170-500, etc around 4-5.6/6.3 would be reasonable to expect for $1500 msrp.

Might as well get a Sigma lens now rather than wait IMO
