Pentax lenses get top billing

Pentax pancake lenses received top billing in the most recent B&H email newsletter. Holiday 2012: Pancake Lenses | BH inDepth

The Da40mm f/2.8 is pictured on the front page and a nice description of the Pentax pancakes is the first item in the article.

Remember that last week they actually sold served as a wakeup call for marketing.

Interesting that the only other dSLR maker with a pancake is Canon and its another 40 that has just been released as I recall. All the others, with the exception of Voigtlander, are for 4/3rds cameras. It really is a niche that ought to be hit harder my Pentax in their, newly revitalized, marketing.

That's exactly what I was thinking. They have mentioned Pentax before but this was the first time I've seen Pentax listed as the category leader, not as an also ran.

It may also be that among dSLRs Pentax actually is the category leader and has at least as many pancake offerings as any other current maker with 4 official pancake lenses for K mount in current production (21, 40x2, 70).

I would count the DA 15 and FA 43 as part of the pancakes.
