I just get a Pentax DA* 50-135mm on 11/26/12 at B&H price $749, and i am ready to buy another one if Pentax fix their prices.

100% agree. Stop the artificially inflated pricing and let the market work.

Count me in. This is manipulation of an otherwise free market. I purchased a 645D from an on-line authorized vendor. On-line price was $1,000 more than when I called for a price quote. The store had to post the item for the agreed price just long enough for me to place my order on-line. Then they removed the item to be in compliance with Pentax's policy.
So what good is Pentax's price-fixing policy doing if all you need to do is post the item and remove it?

The purpose of the price fixing is not Pentax looking after the little guy, it's to price fix so that they can sell their own product at full MSRP on their own site to make a massive proffit. If anything, their price should be the lowest on the planet since their cost for any given item is much lower than anyone else on the planet.

So will I buy the 25mm at $4,999? WTH do you think... Just waiting for one to pop up on eBay otherwise I'll never buy it new from anyone, ever.

If the Pentax lenses are a heck of a lot more than the alternative brands, there's no question that I would just go with Sigma, etc.

Count me in. In 2010 for my first digital camera I took a chance on Pentax (K-5 & 16-50) in spite of the quality control issues that were evident with both camera and lens at that time. I took the chance because not only was the IQ of the K-5 at least as good as the Nikon D7000 that was my alternative, but the camera and lens represented a sufficiently good value to justify the QC risk. I apparently lucked out and am satisfied with both plus the DA 70 and 100 MacroWR that I added shortly after. At today's lens prices there is no question I would have gone Nikon or Sony instead. While I need a wider lens and would consider the 12-24 or the 14, at the current prices if I get another lens at all it will be one of the Sigma 10-20s.

Count me in. I own two ME Supers, K100D Super and a K-5. I have not bought a new lens since the new strategy. It made me not want to buy. I have not paid full price for any new lens. I bought four when Ritz went bankrupt. Others were used on e-bay.

Absolutely count me in. I have got non-Pentax lenses since their pricing strategy.

B&H and Adorama should threaten to drop Pentax entirely if they keep this madness up. I know I won't buy a single lens at the stupid UPP pricing. I have a feeling thought that this is being driven by retailers outside the US. Maybe a compromise is to allow our retailers to post lower prices, but ask them not to ship overseas at these prices.

Add my name...

Count me in Adam.

This petition's a great idea; the power of numbers can make a difference.

Saw this thread last night highlighted on the home page, not so easy to find tonight.

You might want to give it more prominence !!

You know, I just don't get it. It's not like Pentax has customers falling all over themselves to purchase their products. They have a very small share of the market. I do love my Pentax cameras and lens, but not at any price.

Make money on the back side of the each camera purchase. (If so, then it worked on me already.) Or... whatever? Any camera marketing gurus out there?
Sounds like a great marketing strategy for Sigma and Tamron - pricey (overpriced) lenses, albeit high quality, from Pentax, or great value and high quality from a third party?
