I fully support this too. I mostly bought my lenses used, with some Sigma lenses to fill in gaps. I'd love me some Pentax primes but haven't bought any except for some older manual lenses due to cost.

I'd pay Pentax's MSRP (MAD) price for the 16-50 if it was actually the awesome lens that it should be.
If I were starting out now, I would look to another brand because of the importance of the 2.8 standard zoom to a good kit. Anyway, here's hoping the next lens released puts the 16-50 out to pasture.

Yes, I am in the US and lens pricing discourages me from buying. Some lenses seem far too high, driving customers to Sigma and Tamron for lenses, and in some cases to non-Pentax bodies. What might be even more significant (if many others feel this way), I feel uncertain about Pentax' future. They are inconsistent and their explanation for MAP seems disingenuous. Pentax USA is hurting B&H and Adorama, nevermind customers, to get lenses into imaginary brick and mortars. Target, Best Buy, etc. will never carry any lens at DA* prices.

Agreed, allow smaller shipments to B&M. Keep online prices competitive with Sigma.

Crazy lens $$

The reason I chose Pentax as my first DSLR, was because everything I read regarding Pentax was the ability to use older lenses, which can be found cheaply. While this is true, i have no desire to lose AF functions, thus I tend to look at newer lenses. If I had known this before commiting to Pentax, I would have gone Nikon. Right now, I am on the fence regarding upgrading to a K-30 or K-5, vs selling all Pentax, and starting over with Nikon.

I bought a camera body and 2 of the DA limited prime lenses because of the Black Friday pricing. Please add my vote to this petition.

If the DA 35/2.4 stays under $200 I'll pick one up after the holiday. Same for the 40 XS.

yes...I'd love to see reasonable pricing policies returned. It (their old pricing)was the main reason I switched back to Pentax last year from Canon and Nikon.

The two things keeping me from purchasing new Pentax lenses are 1. the high prices and 2. the fact that most Pentax lenses are slower than their competitors say at Sigma (I like lenses with wide open aperatures such as the Sigma 50-500 f4-6.7).

Just bought two Sigma Lenses

I would have preferred buying Pentax but I bought the Sigma 150-500 at a lower price than the Pentax DA*300. I had rented the DA*300 and really wanted to get it but when they raised the price the Sigma was more attractive to me. I also just bought the Sigma 10-20 f3.5. I do own the DA*16-50 before the price went through the roof. Unlike many I like that lens but I would not touch it at today's price.

Bottom line - I would prefer buying Pentax for it's quality construction and generally solid performance but the price needs to be competitive. A premium is OK but not the current premium the new higher prices create.

I'm in. My daughter is interested in a camera of her own, and I'm struggling with the decision to get her a Pentax, or go with a more mainstream brand. The pricing, especially on the lenses, is a real barrier to buying into Pentax.
