This means that the new policy has done nothing but prevented users otherwise interested in Pentax lenses from buying them.
It may also prevent someone from purchasing a Pentax SLR when the only major lens options are Pentax and Sigma. I was at a photo show last weekend, and Pentax is now competing against Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji, etc. Especially with the advent of the mirrorless cameras.

5 years ago I was coming back into photography after a long "sabbatical". I was on the fence between Nikon and Pentax being the system to adopt. Had the current MAP imposed by Pentax been in place then I would be shooting Nikon today without a doubt.

As things stand today, I have now made my final Pentax purchases. I bought a "closeout" K-5 and a mega-sale 50-135. Adorama and BH Photo will continue to get my business, but Pentax has received the last penny of my money unless they reel in their MAP policies. If I have need for any further APS-C lenses, Sigma will be profiting from that.

Count me in as well. I have been unable to afford any of the Pentax lenses except manual and have purchased Sigma, Tamron. Did purchase the K-01 and 40mm on Black Friday pricing but the current Pentax pricing will make me continue to purchase only older lenses or 3rd party.

Ricoh/Pentax, your current UPP on lenses has got to be among the worst marketing decisions I've ever seen. What were you thinking? I will not buy another Pentax lens until the price structure returns to pre-price-gouging levels. A better warranty would also be a welcome addition especially on the SDM series.

Dear Pentax,
If I had known about the Black Friday sale on lenses in advance, I would have been prepared and bought one or two. Now that they are back to normal, I am forced to shop for used Pentax lenses or Sigma and Tamron glass. I have never found a Pentax lens that I wanted in a local photo shop, regardless of price. They either have low-end Pentax glass or in most cases, none at all. Therefore, I have only purchased glass online. If prices were cheaper, we would all buy more lenses, thus making us happier, and locking us in to the Pentax eco-system. We all would win.

Just bought in Canada and beat U.S. prices

During the 'Black Friday' sale, the Pentax DA 18-250 was on sale for 1299. until Monday, then it went back up to 1800.00 which is pricey. After a lot of research to see if i could beat that price, I found it cheaper in Canada online for a total of 1200.00 which includes free shipping and no tax ! I do think Pentax should think about lowering some prices and make some lenses more available such as the 12 -24mm as I had to buy used.

+1 I'm interested in limited primes, but I'll find good used ones if prices stay high.
