If you have to ask "do I need one more?" Then you already have LBA.

Resistance is futile.

You have 2 of the best performing, low-cost zooms Pentax makes (I still have both). I really like them, but you still have something missing.

Honestly, if you can afford it, I think you need to pick up the FA77. After tying it, you'll be able to answer your own question. Sell it if you decide you don't need it or appreciate it. If you can't afford it, then get an A100/2.8 non-macro (or M100/2.8), which will still have a similar effect.

Yup, there's some listing errors in the description of the Pentax version on pretty much every site. What I've read though (I can't remember which thread) is that Sigma never made the HSM version for Pentax.

This lens will be loud, Oh well.

For the record, I bought one because of this sale.
Yep. I lost my hearing with the K100D shutter, so no problem...It gets good reviews though, frankly, I'm lukewarm on the whole thing right now.

I'm biased since I have one, but I'd go for an FA 35/2 over the Sigma 30/1.4. Used prices on the 35/2 are in the same range as the current discount on the sigma 30. You lose one stop of light but much better sharpness across the frame and a more compact overall package.

Still Thinking & Learning

I think that DA 21 mm to close to my DA 15 and that FA 35 f/2 to close to my 40 mm xs. The Sigma 30 mm looks like good deal, but ratings in Photozone are so,so. Do I pull trigger on the Sigma or live with my DA 16-45 f/4 which is not near as fast. Could look for 28 mm used, but see one at KEH for $315.????????????

Love your comments about needing another lens, and another, and another .

I await ALL your knowledge, and I know that you are loven it cause not your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Thanks

PS------- Do some of you do this full time on here?

Get the Sigma. I'm a big fan of Photozone myself, but I don't take their word as Gospel. The Sig showed some exceptional center resolution, which is probably more in accordance with how it was meant to be used. Also, remember that he was kind of comparing the Sigma against the FA 31 which costs triple the amount.

I want to add that I did at one point have the DA 35 F2.4, but I returned it because I didn't like the field of view. I felt it was too narrow. My "perfect" all around focal length I estimate would be somewhere between 24-28mm, but no one makes anything AF super fast (< f2) for Pentax in that range (Sigma makes a 24 1.8, but it's old and rare). 30mm is the closest I'll get. Just my experience. Some people swear by the 35mm range in APS-C, so it's really just a personal thing.

By the way, I think the Sigma deal expires today. I'm not sure you can experience the world of F1.4 in autofocus for less than that price.

Also, some of us just have boring jobs, so we like to browse forums during the day (when we're not "working" of course).

You could look at the F & FA 28/2.8s. They're different optically but both good. That'd be right about in the middle of your 15 and 40.

At one time I thought I had enough with an 18-55 and a 70-300. But then....

I have sold off 7 of the lenses I have had though, so I am good. Of course I have some more I need to sell off, but then there are others I need.
