Yes, once the lens is set as screwdrive, it will always work as a screw drive lens, no matter the DSLR you use.
( I have K10, K20, K7., K5 and K01..)

alaneb's DA*50-135 (now on ScD mode) worked on my K-5 IIs. seen it with my own two eyes. Yup, it's stored in the lens.

Not a K5, but on Kx and K30.
You can check my video in page 3.

There is a rumor that it shoud be xxnnnnn.505. I tried and failed
but the extension should be 505.
One set of magic MODSET numbers for the K-5 is 00077430.505 which will open the TEST adjustment menu on K-5 (like PKTether) and changes "Debug Mode" to "PC Vendor" mode. BUT, still no access to Lens ROM dumping... Might require a different command rather than [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] , or maybe that master menu isn't authorized to that mode.

Meh. I'm just gonna borrow an older camera...

Still monitoring this thread everyday. Anyone able to deactivate SDM on anything other than 16-50 and 50-135?

Well, only hybrid AF lenses can do this so the 60-250 should be able to do this as well.
All other SDM lenses are AFAICT SDM-only.

I converted my 16-50 with a K10d today and it is working fine so far. I was already running debug on the camera so it only took a couple of minutes.

Those who already converted to screw-drive; How much faster is the screw-drive and is it really that noisy? I would think it would be quieter due to the sealing on the DA* lenses blocking out some sound. Also how much more/less accurate is the lens now than before?

for me: 50-135 is now a bit faster but a little noisy... and also, I think it's now less accurate especially for 100-135 focal length.

Guess I'll actually wait until my SDM dies out, if ever. Also to wait until the hackers stabilize the files so that it would focus accurately on all focal lengths.

the DA17-70 and DA*55 are the only SDM only as they are KAF3 lens.

Add me to the list of successful DA*16-50 conversions. All screwdrive now, even though the SDM was working (but very slow). I'd already tested it on a PZ-1p, so I knew the slowness was the motor going, not a mechanical blockage or anything. Back to a zippy (and accurate) focus!

Never found a way to do it (the full debug menu) with a K-5, so I borrowed a K-7. Easy-peasy.

I would say my 16-50 is a bit quieter than some of my screw drive lenses but a fair bit noisier than it was with SDM. Focus speed seems about the same as before (and I will very happy if it no longer locks up occasionally while hunting for focus - my main reason for updating) but I haven't used it enough to judge if accuracy has changed. Focusing on objects around my room it seems pretty good.
