I'll echo a setup similar to the previous post. Either the 10-20 or the 12-24, the 70-200 f/2.8, and an FA 50 1.4. Of course the Bigma would be fighting to somehow get in there, but right now I could use a bit more speed than reach. If I were willing to go ever a little, I'd guess maybe the 70-200 and the Bigma.

Since I am settled with my choice of the K100D I would go for the lenses. If I had the K10d I guess I would go for the 2 x SDM lenses. If I was still just using the istDL I would definitely go for the K20D.

I would go for Sigma 10-20mm for wide and the DA* 50-135mm for zoom and portrait. I have both of them and am very happy with the quality. If you use mostly the wide end and the tele end of your 18-55mm kit lens, then these two lens already covered what you need. You might still have $200+ left which you can get a new or 2nd hand FA35 f2 or wait for the new DA 30mm for low light or normal use.

Even K20D comes with higher ISO performance + improved SR, you still need to get good lenses to get good results. So get those lenses first. As for Sigma 30mm f1.4, I decided not get it after read the photozone test report. I am waiting for the new DA 30mm. FA 31mm and Zeiss 28mm f2 are very tempting, but I can't justify the cost.

Thanks A lot

It seems like everyone is all about the 10-12 or 12-24 lenses and the 50-135. those lenses are for sure will be considered and is on my wish list right now. the portrait lens is really tempting. i could grab a 50mm 1.4 for 199 and have it ordered. i can grab a 77mm 1.8 or the 30mm 1.4 Sigma lens. but the 55mm sdm is really holding me back. WHY WHY is it taking so long to get here .. i think i might end up buying the FA 50mm just in case the 55mm takes to long.

Again thanks a lot for everyone who voted. and thank you for the advice.

If you really want a 55mm prime so badly and cannot wait for it, how about the Voigtlander 58mm f1.4 for $3xx. It is MF only but the quality looks really impressive (from Photozone report).

Saving up for this summer for sure, a lot things will be happening but what should I grab? im scratching my head with this one it sounds stupid but tell me what you think.

looking at a $1500 budget.

1) Buy the K20D (I do have the k10d i got on sept 2007 & the k100D)

2) Get 2 Lenses But which one? i want the 55mm SDM but i know that wont be ready by summer.
so 16-50 & 50-135.

3) i need to cover this areas and i hope you guys can give me some ideas and recommendations.
Wide,Portrait,Zoom. I only have the kit lens 18-55mm a 50mm manual f2 and a 70-300 sigma 35mm lens.

any help with the lens would surely help.

Hmm... this was the exact same dilemma I had before... now I got me a Sigma 10-20 for wide, and am getting an 18-250 for my zoom needs. For portrait and macro, I have a Sigma 105/2.8 macro and I have a 28/2.8 and a 50/1.4. The primes are for low light situations. I find the 105 to be very versatile for my needs: a fast prime that's good for both macro and portraiture...

So to answer your question, with a $1500 budget, I'll get me a K20D Its high ISO performance gives the slow 18-250 added speed for when I really need to use a zoom in low light...
