The 16-50 arrive two weeks ago, the 16-50 returned last week... very disappointing AF. Glad you got a good one.

Let's be careful not to mix things up here. The OP is excited about his DA* 50-135mm and well he should. This lens seems to perform spectacularly for the vast majority of users. Pentax has acknowledged to me that they are having far fewer returns of the 50-135 compared to the DA* 16-50. I am still waiting for my 3rd copy of the DA* 16-50mm. I don't currently own the DA* 50-135mm but if I wanted that focal length range, I would not hesitate to purchase it.

There do seem to be a lot of reported problems with the DA* 16-50, but if you got a good copy, it's reportably drool-inducing, so it's probably worth the effort.

This 50-135 is special. I can see people's individual eyelashes from across the room with quick handheld snapshots. Colors are accurate. White balance seems to 'work better', somehow, maybe it's a function of the color accuracy. Super smooth, quiet internal focusing, and AF is very fast with this baby. It's relatively big, but balances so nicely on my 100D, partly because I can hold it anywhere on the barrel because the focusing is internal.

I can't believe how sharp it is wide open. To be able to get this sharpness at f/2.8 from all focal ranges 50-135, with fast AF - now I truly see what all the fuss is about. If the new lenses Pentax is coming out with this year are anything like this, I'm going to go friggin' broke.

Stop raving about it cause I have no LBA money. I'll be tempted to sell something to buy the 50-135!

This has been my most recent purchase, and had it bolted onto my K10D during my recent trip to Whistler.

An absolute revelation, and the pictures are worth every cent spent on this beautifully crafted lens.

I thought it was just me. Picked up a K10d today to replace a Nikon D70 with a hot pixel. I figured I'd splurge on glass since I was used to shooting with a 105mm Nikkor micro most of the time. Got the 16-50 * lens and got home and shot it back to back with the kit 18-55. The 16-50 * went back to the store. Maybe it was a dud, but I was more impressed by the cheap kit lens.

Now whether to get a 50mm macro or 100mm macro. Or a 50/1.4.
