LBA has started again ...

I've held off buying lenses for a long time because, frankly, it's a tough times out there and the 18-55 is quite good. But I've had LBA before. As a 14 year old I spent 2 months Saturday-job wages and my birthday money on a Sigma 35-200, which was disappointingly bad, so I traded it and some more Saturday-wages for a 28mm f2.8 and 135mm f2.8 - all in Praktica B mount, so all now sadly useless to me, even if I still had them. I was happy with my 28/2.8 50/1.8 and 135/2.8 though.

Anyway, I was looking on eBay the other day, with no particular aim or intention, and saw a listing for "Miranda camera with lens" It was a later Miranda, when they used K mount, so I looked at the picture more closely, and to my surprise it had a Pentax lens on it . A Pentax-M 50mm F1.7 in-fact, and there were no bids, perhaps because the word 'pentax' didn't appear anywhere in the listing. So I now have an M 50/1.7 and, as a bonus, a free camera. All for £11 (just under $18 US).

Then I 'accidentally' found myself on eBay again last night and saw a Hanimex 28mm f2.8 listed. It looks a bit battered, but it's an A lens and from what I could tell the glass looks ok. And it had no bids either. And it was only £15 delivered ($24 US) so that's coming my way too.

That's definitely it for now though. Definitely. For now ....

Here's the Hanimex (eBay picture - it's not here yet)

Congratulations, finds like the Praktica are harder to come by these days. Enjoy your new lens.

Thanks. I'm intrigued by the Hanimex as I don't really have any expectations of it.

I love the size and quality of the M 50/1.7 but it's got a bit too much 'reach' for my eyes as a 'standard' lens on APS-C, so the Hanimex may get used more. For my enormous outlay I thought it worth the experiment

The lens in the photo doesn't look like any K-mount lens I know, looks quite like a Canon FD mount. Good luck.

It was described as a K mount in the listing, and the seller has 100% feedback, so I'm confident, so far

It looks like a well used one of these, which in this picture (not mine) is in m42 - Unlikely twins | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I think I spent US $50 or thereabouts on my M 50 1.7 and have been v. happy with it ever since. Good for you!

Well the Hanimex arrrived today, and it sort of has a K mount - it's an m42 lens with a K/M adaptor on it, although to be fair to the seller it was on very tightly.

The glass seems clean enough but there are a few marks inside it that look like paint has come off, although I've no idea how that would have happened.

Here are some images of it:

And here is a closer look at the marks that seem to be on the paint. It doesn't look like fungus to me, but any advice would be much appreciated:

Wondering how that Hanimex 28mm f2.8 worked out for you. I've got one I bought in 1983 and would like to sell. It's in excellent condition and definitely a K-mount. Just don't have my ME-Super anymore and it doesn't do much for my K-x.
