Sigma 800mm f5.6

I am looking at buying this lens and am wondering if anyone in the forum has it and, if so, how they like it. I'll be using it with my K10D and K20D when it arrives.

Additionally, the only place I have found it listed for sale in Henry's for approx $6,500 US. I'd prefer to buy from a US store but haven't found one. Anyone know how Henry's is to buy from?

I originally wanted a Sigma 300-800mm but they don't seem to make it in a Pentax mount.

Thanks!
Phil

Henry's is a very respectable seller. Go for it!

Henry's is generally very over priced.

That's the problem, I haven't found anyone else that sell the lens!

If you read the fine print, this lens is a special order. I believe no one will stock it. Too specific to single users. If you dont like it you would probably give up 20% in restocking

Yes, I saw that but again, I haven't found anyone else that even shows it as a special order so...it appears it's Henry's or no lens unless someone has another idea.

I'm not too worried about liking it though as the reveiws are very good and I love their 50-500mm. Still, it's a heck of a lot of money!

Since you're already mentioning it ...

why would a 800 f/4 mirror scope mounted to the body be such a bad thing (cheaper, lighter, faster) ? Naiv question, I know, but since you're spending all the money I'm sure you know the answer...

no apature control for depth of field is why you pay the bucks for a big monster.

Also mirrors have those lovely out of focus donuts

You could've buy the FA* 600mm 4.0 instead of selling your Pentax gear in 2008.
Now there's the new ultratele DA 560mm 5.6 and the long awaited fullframe K-1.
