Looking for da35macro image samples

So the price is dropping from 600 US to 449 US now?

Good news like k20d dropping its price before it even hits ashore!

On first read I thought it meant you have the green notes want the black lenses.
Then I see it in your sig. Man ... what you have and what you want are poles apart

Anyway, if Henry's sells this at $450 I'm optimistic US online places like Buydig will do for ~$400. Compared to FA35/2 just $100 extra for Limited build and Macro (1:1 I assume); an offer hard to refuse.

Trust me, I know. However, I'm working hard. I should be able to get the four DA Limiteds before college starts. That'll be a good start. I'm not getting the FA* primes because the prices are too high. I will hopefully save up for the new lenses Pentax is releasing soon.

By the way, this is definitely going to be my next lens! And once I get it, the kit lens is going to go.

what kind of stuff would this lens be good for? i have a bunch of small things lego blocks, swiss army knife, small toys that i would like to try some macro photography, is this lens too short?

I think the big question for me is the focusing speed on this lens. Most macros I've used have been rather slow to focus, which is fine for macro work, but hardly acceptable for normal use. At 35mm I expect this to be something like a glorified normal lens that can focus really close, and to be really useful as a normal lens, it should have reasonably fast focusing.

Btw, does this have a focusing limiter?

Most AF macro lenses are slow because of the large range they have to focus through; thus, a focus limiter is quite helpful. So I hope they actually include one on this lens. The price is pretty decent.

1:1 application is limited however, but a small DA limited would be good enough for flower, casual bug shot, or any stationary object.
Now if they can release the DA* 55 sooner so i can make my choice between the VL 58 and this.

Wider macros are fine for working wth inanimate objects. Working distance is closer is all, and you can get more in if you need. Just like working in non-macros, your teles keep you farther back, your wide angles bring you closer. Same goes for macro, except magnified.

This focal length in a macro would be ideal for shooting products or plants for example where you still want to see a lot of the subject but at higher detail. Less useful for bugs or things that move if you get to close.

I don't think It will have a focus limiter, and this is why:
the shorter the focal length of a lens the less distance the lens will need to move in order to acheive 1:1 mag. Somewhere I saw a photo of the new da 35 macro fully extended, and it's not that long.
As for the lego thing, it would work very good.
I've used my 10-17 fisheye to shoot legos the problem is that I get so close sometimes that the front lens element will amost touch the "lego people"
It does give a very interesting perspective.

This is a little off topic but I like to play with legos (hey I'm only 49)
So I'm posting this to show what can be done with a really wide angle macro
the 10-17 fisheye. Ok, it's not really a true macro, but you get the picture.

is it a lot more complicated to add a focus limiter to a lens?
