LBA: SMC Pentax-A 1:2.8 28mm

WooHoo! LBA is striking me as well. My Wife found this excellent condition lens you see attached to my K10D in the mailbox today. I hope to write up a review on this one soon, as I expect to put it throught it's paces over the next couple weeks. (Thanks Jim for parting with this wonderful lens!)

The A28/2.8 is a great lens, smooth focus, small and good color. I picked up one (my second one) over the holidays at a pawn shop in mint condition for $15. I posted some pics with it here;

I keep it in my day bag all the time along with my A50/1.4 and M120/2.8...

$15?? As the folks on the other thread have already stated. You lucky ^&%$#^^!!!! I agree with you, the focusing on this unit is silky smoooth, and nicely torqued. It's easier and more fun to focus than my FA50/1.4

I paid a tad more than you did for this particular lens, but I must say I was quite happy with the price I paid, compared to what the same lens has been going for on e(NUT)Bay lately!

I don't mind manual focusing, but I have discovered at this point that I'm lazy, and don't like having to perform "stop-down" metering. So that rules out all the "M" or screwmount lenses at least for now. But there's lots of good "A" glass out there still to be had.

I'd say focusing on all A, M, and K lenses is silky smooth

My LBA 200mm A* comes in tomorrow- we'll see how it fares. I also hope to have the reviews system up by then, but I'm encountering a strange error that's preventing me from adding any lens to the database

I paid $71 for my first one and that was also a good price as I was willing to go up to $90 for one.
Mo, if you find nother A*200 let me know. I have the M200/4 but I don't carry it around that much. Maybe after I play with the A35-105/3.5 for a couple of weeks I'll switch it out for the M200 to play with.

The M200 is much more compact, but 1 stop slower. I think it's a reasonable trade-off, so both lenses are about equally useful.

I hear the A*'s are rare (roscot sold this one) and I can't find any on froogle or on ebay.

I'll post some results later today.
