Essentially, I love weather sealing. I love not having to worry about it and just going to take pictures. As long as the quality is at least on par with my 18-135 (which I sold to help fund the purchase) I will be happy.

I'm not hoping for much better performance. Just a little bit better!

Don't expect it to be as spectacular as your other 2 DA* lenses, but it's still very good. In the last couple of months I've come to appreciate mine more and more, even though I've owned it about 2 years. If you have realistic expectations I think you'll appreciate how it gives a good blend of performance and convenience (compared to primes).
LOL Dave, if you ever decide to get rid of that one you know who to talk to!

Alas - the 16-50mm that I scored for 600 Canadian has SDM failure! I don't think the ebay seller knew, perhaps only tested on a non-sdm camera? Anyways, he issued me a bit of a refund to get a repair so it is off to United Camera Repair in Chicago tomorrow. This is my first sdm issue so I guess I am now an official pentax person.

I'll never own an SDM lens. Sorry that happened to you.

Yeah - I'm bummed. I'm happy there is an easy solution and that the lens is still coming to me at a good price... but yeah - it sucks!
